As many as 356 students from grades 9 and 12 of Thursina International Islamic Boarding School (IIBS) were officially graduated (14/6). Titled "You Are a Changemaker! Be Morally Excellent, Internationally Minded, and Inspiring Leader", the event was held at Grand Mercure Mirama, Malang. The momentum was not just a marker of graduation, but also a celebration of educational achievements, character, and strategic roles as the drivers of change in the future.
Ustadz Nur Abidin, M. Ed as the CEO of Thursina IIBS stated, graduation is an appreciation for the achievements of students in various aspects, from academics, tahfidz, Islamic boarding schools, to self-development. "Graduation is a sacred momentum validating students as graduates of Thursina IIBS, as well as the sign of readiness to spread good values ââto the wider community," he said.
The learning achievement report shows that 100% of Thursina IIBS Junior High School (SMP) students successfully passed the National Examination, 100% passed the Diniyah and Al-Azhar programs, and 100% finished the Foreign Language program. Meanwhile, Thursina IIBS Senior High School (SMA) students, 100% passed the National Examination, 100% succeeded in the Diniyah and Al-Azhar programs, and 100% accomplished the Foreign Language program.
There were 24 students who completed memorizing 30 juz of the Quran. Some have achieved excellently in the Cambridge Checkpoint and International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) exams. While, several students attained perfect scores in English, Math, and Science.
What is more proud, one of the 2025 graduated students, Radenroro Aquene Kosalya Wijaya, has been accepted at the renowned campus, Zhejiang University of Science and Technology, China. Many have succeeded in gaining scholarships from the Russian, Chinese, and Middle Eastern governments. Overall, 31% of students have penetrated international education levels, and more than 69% have enrolled at national universities.
Thursina IIBS highlights the significance of internalisation of the core values, RECODING: Religious, Caring, Open-minded, and Inspiring. Religious values ââreflect the firmness of faith and pride in Islam. Caring emphasizes service and empathy. Open-mindedness teaches moderate and wise students. While Inspiring encourages them to be role models of kindness and innovation.
"We hope that the alumni could maintain the reputation of Thursina IIBS wherever they are and persistently practice the RECODING values âinstilled while studying in the Islamic boarding school," said Ustadz Abidin.
The message in the slogan is a manifestation of character building and leadership for the alumni. For three years, the students have gone through a struggling process, being tough, independent, and ready to contribute in various fields.
Furthermore, Ustadz Abidin stated that Thursina IIBS would like to be remembered as the best character building house. "For three years they studied in Islamic boarding school, the process of carving a meaningful future. This graduation is the beginning, not the end. We deliver the message strongly in the series of the events," he added.
As an international Islamic school, promoting holistic and balanced education, Thursina IIBS reaffirms its commitment to build an excellent generation, intellectually, spiritually, and socially. The 2025 graduation is a reflection of this consistency, and at the same time is a real proof that Thursina IIBS is not only a place to learn, but a place to grow into a whole human being. (sls/lil)
