Thursina Global Citizens Excel In Science Competition

Thursina International Islamic Boarding School (IIBS) has once again cemented its reputation as an educational institution of academic excellence on the global stage. Representing a lineage of leading young innovators, the delegates secured silver medals in the prestigious Jakarta International Science Fair (JISF) 2026, held at i3L University.

The competition, initiated by the Indonesian Young Scientists Association (IYSA) in collaboration with renowned partner universities, attracted 415 elite teams from nine countries. Held in a hybrid format from April 14–27, 2026, the event provided a prestigious forum for students to demonstrate their intercultural awareness and scientific prowess.

These achievements span a wide range of cutting-edge research categories, from Environmental Science and Life Sciences to Innovation Science. Among the projects that have garnered attention are "Lumeabloom," an innovative organic-based anti-aging lotion, and "Plastra," a renewable energy project focused on converting plastic waste.

Ustaz Fatah Kurniawan, M.Pd., Co. Enrichment and Competition Director of Thursina IIBS, expressed his deep appreciation for the consistency. He noted that the success is a tangible result of their ability to maintain a cross-cultural mindset while responding to complex global issues.

"Alhamdulillah, this achievement is a testament to the ability of our students to compete internationally through research and innovation relevant to global needs. We believe that their spirit of exploration, excellent teamwork, and solid consistency throughout the research process were the determining factors in this victory," said Ustaz Fatah during the awards ceremony.

He further emphasized that Thursina's involvement in a global network is designed to foster more than just a competitive spirit.

"Our students' involvement in international arenas like JISF is not merely about winning medals. It is a measured effort to develop their critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and scientific communication skills in global forums. This kind of international exposure provides a vital foundation for them to grow as global citizens in an increasingly competitive future," he added.
