The Thursina International Islamic Boarding School (IIBS) choir team successfully achieved a gold medal in the 14th Bali International Choir Festival (BICF) 2025. Thursina Voice won the Choir Championship for Pop & Jazz category with a final score of 87.88, under the direction of Conductor Lucky Agus Saputra. The competition was organized by Bandung Choral Society, on July 29 to August 2 in Bali, presenting 3500 singers from 17 countries and judged by international juries.Â
Ustadzah Ariesqi Dinda Putri, S.Pd., Co-Enrichment and Competition Director of Thursina IIBS, said participation in BICF is the commitment to provide a platform for students to actualize themselves in arts, particularly choir. The performance has offered an opportunity to hone their musicality, teamwork, and courage to perform on the global stage.
The selection of Thursina voice through internal auditions is rigorous, followed by eight months of intensive training. Each session includes vocal practice and harmony, breathing techniques, as well as choreography. The school brings in professional coaches to enhance the talents and performance to international standards.
The Thursina Voice team for BICF 2025 consisted of 40 female singer students from various grade levels. The team was accompanied by musicians and officials to ensure impressive performance. "One of the most touching moments was when the students performed confidently and received a rapturous response from the audience. It was proof that their hard work paid off," added Ustadzah Ariesqi.
Participation in Thursina Voice is more than just about achieving success; it also instills main values such as hard work, sportsmanship, discipline, and collaboration. The school hopes this experience will provide valuable resources for students as they navigate their futures. "Students are able to compete on a global level without abandoning their Islamic identity and values," she added. (sls/lil)
